This was in answer to a request… you can probably guess what it was. :)
Noise. So much noise.
Muffled groaning from behind the door penetrated into the room. Everything seemed all buzzed out, so blurry. And very, very achy.
“Jagi-yahhh…” he moaned, rising up to sitting position on the bed with his hand grabbing a fistful of his hair. Pain was pulsing through his head, beating against him like angry waves pounding against stone walls. He could barely open his eyes. “Jagi-yahhhhhhhhhhhhh.”
You entered the room with his second call, sitting on the bed with some medicine in one hand and a glass of water in the other. You popped a pill into his mouth and held the liquid to his lips for him to drink. His eyebrows were furrowed in annoyance at his headache. “Thank you…” he sighed after chugging the whole glass.
“You really shouldn’t drink so much.”
“I didn’t want to lose to your dad. I’m a man. I have to show him I’m a man.”
“You looked like an drunken idiot yesterday, I hope you know that.” You rubbed his back to comfort him.
“Well, I guess at least your dad was too drunk to know or remember.”
Just then, you both heard yelling from outside of the room. “They did what?! Come back here, _____! You were just in here. She was just in here, wasn’t she?” You heard your mom trying to calm your father down by reminding him how good you were by bringing him hangover medicine this morning, but his footsteps stomped closer and closer. “I said no sleeping in the same room!”
“Uh oh…” For the sake of your boyfriend, you quickly ran to the door and locked it shut before your father could come in. “Hurry up! Get dressed! We’ll go out to let him cool down.”
As your boyfriend threw on some clean clothes from his suitcase, your father’s angry knocking echoed into the room. “Come out here both of you! I have something to talk to you about!”
“Hurry up!” you whispered urgently to him. You zipped his pants up for him like he was a child and adjusted his plaid shirt. You grabbed his hand and stood behind the door, bracing yourself with a hand on the doorknob. “Ready?” you mouthed to him. He nodded gravely once.
You yanked the door open and rushed out of the room at the speed of light, gripping your boyfriend’s hand as you did so. “Sorry, Dad! Later!”
“Very sorry!” your boyfriend yelled behind him. He really meant it.
You couldn’t hear your father’s objections as soon as you hit the stairway, but the two of you ran down and out of the apartment complex without looking back, winning the curiosity of your nosy neighbors.
“Where are we going?” he asked breathlessly as you both continued to run down the street hand in hand.
You took a minute to think about it, and then you thought of the perfect date. “To the park!”
You both caught a bus, but the ride was short as you both hopped off in front of a beautiful green scene. In front was a large, open field with families of energetic young children and laughing parents frolicking around. A few trees of modest height provided shade for the folks who wanted a quiet place to read. Others were sunbathing or playing games. Past the field was a walkway that circled around a man-made lake with willow trees lining the path that swayed its branches and leaves with the gentle wind.
You pulled him away from all of this and towards the dock where little wooden row boats were floating on water. “I’ve always wanted to do that whole romantic boat thing! Like in movies. You know how to row, right?”
“… Of course I do.” At least I know how to swim…
He kept a boat stable against the dock and held your hand as you wobbled onto the it before he jumped on as well. He struggled a bit to figure out how to use the paddles, but he eventually found a rhythm to it and mentally congratulated himself. As soon as the boat made it to the middle of the long lake in an area with less people and more trees surrounding the area, he placed the paddles inside of the boat and rest his arms, letting his eyes fall onto your happy, childish face.
“Thanks for doing that. It was a childhood dream to have this experience.”
“For your boyfriend to slave for you in a row boat?” You glared at him. “Haha… Just kidding. You know I’d do anything for you, jagi-yah.” You smiled at him. “If you’ve never done this before, there’s probably something else you’ve never done on a boat before too…”
“Come closer.” His eyes widened as he begged you to come towards him with his hands patting at his thighs.
Your eyes narrowed, “No.” Obviously what you guessed he wanted to do was not something you could do in a public park with children around.
“Noooo, I don’t want to.”
He tried grabbing at you, but you backed away. He gave you a cute little pout, and paused with his hands on the the edge of the boat, halfway up to move towards you, hoping his attempt at persuading you would get you to change your mind, but you wouldn’t budge. You crossed your arms and just gave him a look.
“Jagi-yah, come closer or I will come to you.”
“Do it then,” you dared.
“Okayyy…” And he crept over to you, rocking the boat a bit, but you leaned to the opposite side so that his body missed yours.
“Aish, why are you like this?!”
“Why are YOU like this?” You hopped on over to the side he was previously sitting as he was caught in an awkward position over the bench of the boat.
“Stop movinggg…” he whined. He swung around and eyed you like prey. “Don’t move.” You didn’t say anything; you just watched.
He did a little shimmy before nearly pouncing at you! But you were ready and you dodged his attempt to get you once again, but this rocked the boat a bit too much when he missed, so his hand had nothing to grab and his upper body met the water as the boat tipped over as he fell in with a splash. You began laughing at him when he resurfaced, gasping and spitting out water. “YA!”
“You asked for it!”
“So you’re just gonna…” he spit out water as he tread, “laugh at me in the boat? I don’t think so.” He grabbed the boat and rocked it aggressively. He laughed like a madman in the process.
“No!” You held onto both sides of the boat’s edge for dear life, but alas, you fell into the water too.
He quickly wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you up so you wouldn’t sink further into the water. You gasped, coughing out water, wiping away the liquid from your eyes before yelling at him right in the face, “I can’t believe you just did that!”
“Why don’t you just listen to me next time, ou?”
“Ugh…” You held onto his shoulders tightly so you wouldn’t sink in too deep. He was treading the water with his legs and one hand for you as he supported you, holding you tightly against his body in the cold lake. It was such a tempting moment as you were both soaked in the water, bodies pressed tightly against one another. He planted a kiss on your lips, and you kissed him back with your arms wrapping around his shoulders. But unfortunately, before the kiss could progress more, you noticed how much the temperature of the water really bothered you. “The water’s freezing, oppa!”
“You ready to go back onto the boat?” You nodded. He smiled, and gave you a full kiss on the cheek when you weren’t expecting it before hauling the two of you back onto the bobbing boat. You both laid at the bottom of it, hidden from view from the rest of the world. You nestled your upper body against his wet chest for warmth, one of his arms supporting you like a pillow, the other hand wiping away your dripping wet hair from your face.
The sunshine from above illuminated your skin and the sleek shine from the water droplets on your face sparkled when the light hit at the right angles. Your light-colored T-shirt stuck to your skin, revealing the tone of your skin underneath. Your breathing was calm, but heavier than normal, your chest rising and falling as you smiled at him in content. And to him, the world stopped and you appeared before him like a goddess, lying beside him in all your perfection and imperfections. It almost felt like a dream to him and all he knew was that he didn’t want this stop.
“You’re the most… beautiful woman in this world,” he said randomly. You scoffed and rolled your eyes, turning your head away from him as you thought his words sounded empty, but he pushed your cheek back to face him. “I’m serious…” He stared into your eyes, searching for something in them.
You could tell from the way he looked at you with that expression of awe and adoration, that he was sincere in what he said. He was thinking about something serious and important… His eyebrows were furrowing now just as they usually do when he’s focused on a deep thought. You let a few seconds of quiet calmness pass before you murmured, “What are you thinking about?”
“What about me?”
His contemplative expression shifted and a corner of his lips curled into a sly smile. “Like what I said you probably also haven’t experienced on a boat.”
You groaned and turned away from him, but his arm that served as your pillow curled so that you were immediately urged back into his hold. He cupped your cheek and kissed you on the lips with his eyes closed, wrapping both of his arms around your waist to pull you closer to him. Ever so softly, he brushed his moist lips against yours before leaving butterfly kisses from your nose to each side of your cheeks and forehead, and back to your lips one more time before he backed away and grinned.
“Was that another childhood dream come true? A romantic kiss on a boat in the middle of the lake.”
You blushed, realizing your assumption of what he wanted was totally different than what he had intended. “Oh.” You both could have spared getting soaking wet if you hadn’t jumped to conclusions.
“Ha… I guess it wasn’t one of them, huh?” He pinched your cheek. “Well, it was one of my dreams.”
“Since you were a kid?”
“Since I got on this boat.” You both laughed at his joke and spent much of the rest of the day sunbathing in the boat to dry off your clothes, chatting a bit and falling asleep in each other’s arms every so often. There was not a care in the world as you both floated in the lake, content in each other’s embrace under the warm sun.
